Teaching Staff availability

Time is set aside for teachers during their timetabled week to allow them to carry out planning, preparation and assessment activities, referred to as PPA.  Each class is then covered by another qualified member of staff.  The purpose of PPA is to relieve some of the existing workload pressures on teachers. Staff may also be absent from school during the week to attend specific training events.

Facility Time

The Trade Union (Facility Time Publication Requirements) Regulations 2017 came into force on 1 April 2017

Facility time is defined in the Regulations as ‘the provision of paid or unpaid time from an employee’s normal role to undertake Trade Union duties and activities as a Trade Union representative’.
