Art at Morpeth All Saints…

At Morpeth All Saints we are committed to ensuring that pupils are equipped to successfully think, work and communicate like an artist. Our art curriculum focuses on excellence in this subject through the use of a range of media and incredible artists. Each block takes inspiration from a well known artist to inspire pupils to develop their own artistic creations.
Our intention is that high quality teacher instruction, building on pupils’ prior knowledge and skills and exploring the work of well known artists inspires pupils to acquire the knowledge and skills to enable them to apply these skills and understanding in their own creative work.
The CUSP Art curriculum is organised into blocks with each block covering a particular set of artistic disciplines, including drawing, painting, printmaking, textiles, 3D and collage. Vertical progression in each discipline has been woven into the fabric of the curriculum so that pupils can revisit key disciplines throughout their Primary journey at increasing degrees of challenge and complexity.
Central to the learning modules are activities designed to develop pupils’ oracy and vocabulary skills to enable them to use artistic language meaningfully when talking about their work and the work of others.
